Clark College Aerospace 2022
AUVSI SUAS Competition
Biplane Tailsitter VTOL Technical Design

The Clark College Aerospace Program's drone team designed and manufactured a vertical takeoff and landing (VTOL) tailsitter to participate in the 2022 AUVSI SUAS Competition. The team consists of 5 first to fourth-year undergraduate students from Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, and Computer Science. The current system is a complete redesign from the fixed-wing hybrid VTOL from 2019 to improve efficiency and mobility. Compared to the version previous years, the aircraft is also scaled back in terms of features to compensate for the smaller team. The purpose of the design is to refine the body and achieve autonomous flight.
